As we all know, March has been declared Women’s History Month so we are celebrating all month long! Women are and have always been revolutionary, when we put our mind to something we show up and show out! Together we are an even greater force, even in this pandemic, there has been a pivot incurrent female businesses and a rise in female founders across the world. Over the past 40 years, the number of women entrepreneurs has grown 400% (BDC,2020). In today’s blog we will be highlighting 21 Woman Owned Businesses you should and will love to support because they are amazing. In no particular order here they are:

1.     Purposely Custom

This online shop currently focuses on home and retail products such as hand-poured vegan candles (home department) to handmade earrings, and t-shirts (retail department). They believe that luxury products should be created purposefully and thoughtfully without compromising their quality, beauty, and practicality. They also believe that luxury products should be custom-products (unique, limited, and personalized). Purposely Custom does this by intentionally limiting the production quantity for most of our products. They also sell many one-of-a-kind items! It was founded during the Covid-19 pandemic and is currently based in Ottawa and ships worldwide.

2.    Sema Handmade

Sema Handmade is a beautiful Etsy shop that sells small batch statement earrings that are very lightweight, unique and handmade with love.These earrings add a little spark and can completely transform your look. Syntiche, the owner has a love for DIY which challenged her to make polymer clay earrings.She did the research, bought some clay and made her first pair and its been up from there.

3.    Sweet Solace Scripts

Sweet Solace Scripts is an online shop specializing in designing inspirational mugs and typography wall art inspired by scriptures.Sweet Solace was intended to connect with whoever may have lost sight of themselves and are in the process of finding comfort and wholeness. For those hoping to find solace in God and reconnect with the amazing person God made them to be. Whether you do this by blogging, reading, writing, editing, producing...The items are designed to complement your moment by providing you with a product that will always remind you to pause and seek comfort in God andHis word. The owner was inspired by her own moments of solace and wanted to share these inspirational items and designs with us. She hopes that whoever receives it will be encouraged to find and enjoy solace in God.

Kinsfolk Shop based in Guelph, Ontario and functions online only for the time being. They carry a range of products that include fair-trade as well as Canadian-made and carefully selected makers and manufacturers from various regions around the world that align with what they’re all about.Products are added regularly and collections are updated as they find things that are useful and inspiring. With a goal to also introduce fellow Canadians to a more simple and intentional approach to living everyday life. Their aim is to help you find useful, practical pieces for your home.

 

5.     The Gift Refinery

The Gift Refinery is a Canadian Subscription box and lifestyle brand, founded from a place of genuine passion for helping others discover quality, Canadian products. TGR is dedicated to living in pursuit of the next great Canadian brand. Victorious Caps are meant to symbolize and tell a story of your faith and your victory over any tough challenges you didn't think you could overcome.

 

7.      BBxCollection

This is a one-woman show small business based in Ottawa,Ontario. Their mission is to provide cool, casual clothing for women of all sizes, men and kids at an affordable price, without sacrificing quality or comfort. Meghan, the owner, takes great pride in the work she does, carefully designing, printing & pressing and packaging each order with her own two hands.She also operates and own a small shop in the market at 31 York Street in downtown Ottawa. They are also loud in supporting and loving on supporting women-led, local and Canadian businesses and make every effort to carry a wide range of high-quality goods from apparel, candles, drink ware, accessories, jewelry, hair accessories, paper products & more.

Seventh & Oak is an online shop that creates clean burning candles that serve a purpose, look great as decor pieces and do not negatively impact the environment or your breathing. All their products are packaged sustainably and ship from the studio in Toronto, Ontario. This business is run by two sisters, Sepideh and Setareh who love decor and flipping wreaths. They make custom wreaths for any and every occasion. They are currently based in Ottawa and have an Etsy shop where you can purchase any wreath of your choice.

Treats by Bex is an  Ottawa business offering sweet and savoury grazing boxes and platters. Whether you want to treat yourself, a loved one ora larger group on any occasion, they’ve got you covered. Ottawa Artisans was created as a solution for hyper-local shopping of handmade artisans goods. The idea behind the platform was to provide a quick and easy solution for crafters to safely and efficiently sell their products and for buyers to be able to browse a large catalogue of products while also completing their purchases on a secure platform! A great alternative to in-person markets as buyers were able to browse products from more than a hundred makers in the comfort of their own home! Ottawa Artisans is home to 400 makers and more than 10 000 products. A brick and mortar store featuring artisans from the platform has recently opened at the St-Laurent Shopping Center.

This business was founded two sister entrepreneurs, Resa  and Tracey with a passion for business and a love for their community. This is marketplace to showcase Black innovation and creativity and when technology and consumer demand finally merged to meet their passion, they jumped on it opportunity to bring their concept to the Ottawa market! The dream is to showcase for black businesses, goods and services in Canada that were rooted in our cultural heritage and could service the broader community at large.

  

21.  AHEMA Gold
